News Post: Amalur
Penny Arcade 27 Jan 2012, 6:12 pm CET
Gabe: Once again I was able to beg an early copy of a game. This time I scored Kingdoms of Amalur. I’ve been playing it now for a few days and I am in love. I’m probably not supposed to talk about the game yet but I figured it would be much easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission as the old saying goes. I’m not incredibly far in the game and I don’t want to spoil anything but I do want to give my impressions. Yesterday on Twitter I said I thought it was better than Skyrim and I

Rayman Origins to PC
ActionTrip Gaming News 27 Jan 2012, 5:46 pm CET
Finally. Ubisoft confirmed that they are bringing the lovely, cartoon-style platformer, Rayman Origins, to the PC (it's also one of those games I played in 2011, but just couldn't find the time to review - I'll make up for that, you have my word).
Crappy, Box Art, Mega Man Enters the Ring
Dueling Analogs 27 Jan 2012, 5:27 pm CET
I kid you not, the crappy U.S. box art version of Mega Man from the original Mega Man game is going to be an exclusive playable character in the Sony (ie. Playstation 3 and PS Vita) versions of Street Fighter X Tekken. Can you say horribly awesome?

Morning, folks! Took this nice photo with my phone. Thought you might like to know what the view's like from AT HQ. It's not bad, as urban settings go.
News Post: Boxinalia
Penny Arcade 27 Jan 2012, 8:01 am CET
Tycho: There are many games where box breaking is core to the experience, a cultural practice, a folkway, and this happens in Kingdoms of Amalur as well. Games are developing more robust approaches to assessing your moral coordinate with precision, but they’re still several long miles from basic etiquette. I’m sure they’ve already printed the cases for it, which is too bad, because it would be fun to have the cover say something like AMALUR? MORE LIKE AM-ALURRING hoooooo - TYCHO BRAHE, PENNY ARCADE You guys can have that, if you want. That’s a freebie. I think Gabriel wants to talk about

I pity Lydia. No matter how I look at it, I don't think she enjoys a life of breaking in people's house, stealing their belongings (and sometimes souls) and being attacked by dragons every other day. I don't think that's what she expected when she signed to be a housecarl.
Maybe she dreamed of serving some noble Nord lord... or just a nice Nord... or a Nord which doesn't eat bugs and human hearts and perform questionable magic.
When she runs in the front of my fireballs and activate every trap, think, deep inside, she is trying to give a hint about her level of satisfaction.
Kinect Star Wars Looks Fun... From This Angle
ActionTrip Gaming News 27 Jan 2012, 2:12 am CET
Yeah, the whole pitch for Kinect Star Wars is that players will be able to experience Star Wars like never before. Well, that's true in a way. This is the first time you'll be able to "unleash your inner Jedi.

Pixel Perfect
Dueling Analogs 26 Jan 2012, 2:28 am CET
John McGregor has a deep love for retro video games. That’s why his website, Brother Brain, is an homage to the pixel based video game art of yesteryear. These are a just a few samples of some of those pieces found on his site.

You may not believe, but I'm fine with modern gaming. The past was good, but I can see it shortcomings. Overall, I think we have today the best of both worlds.
Today games voice, online multiplayer, more colors, more sounds and if I REALLY want to be old school there are tons of indie-games which plays just like that, and the old games are still there if someone want to play it.
My main gripe is lots of mainstream AAA games make such an effort to praise as many people as possible they just don't hold my attention. Also, some game companies are turning a bit too greedy on DLCs and stuff.
Still, the net result is positive, even if by volume alone.
Unrelated, if someone have a big group of friends who play DOTA together all the time, give me a call. I'm on that annoying limbo where the AI is easy, but real players are tough.
